O câncer não é contagioso, porém existem infecções que aumentam risco de câncer
O câncer não é uma doença contagiosa
e nem transmissível. Porém, existem doenças infecciosas causadas
por micro-organismos que atuam como fatores de risco para câncer. Os mecanismos envolvem principalmente inflamação crônica,
com estímulo a proliferação anormal de células, Alterações imunológicas que interferem na identificação de células defeituosas e mutações genéticas (alteração no DNA) induzidas pelos patógenos (os germes).
Os principais infecções no contexto brasileiro que estão relacionados a desenvolvimento de câncer são:
– Helicobacter pylori, no estômago
– HPV, no colo uterino, canal anal, orofaringe, pênis
– Hepatites B e C, no fígado
– HTVL e HIV, sarcoma de Kaposi e linfomas
– EBV (Vírus Epstein- Barr)
A maioria desses patógenos (=germes que causam doenças),
pode ser prevenida e/ou tratada e acompanhada. E a associação a outros fatores de risco como obesidade, sedentarismo, tabagismo e excesso de álcool deve ser combatida.
Além de manter seus hábitos saudáveis, não deixe de conferir sua carteira de vacinação e procure atendimento médico em caso de algum sintoma.
